SHANE LEDYARD

Shane Ledyard is a freelance horse trainer and coach based in Bucks County, Pennsylvania. He specializes in practical English riding as well as hunters, hunt seat equitation and jumpers. Shane travels over 30,000 miles per year to serve his clientele. He is also a horse show judge for hunter, hunt seat equitation, jumpers and hunter breeding. Shane is available for private and group lessons as well as clinics.

Philosophy

Shane believes that a true horseman never stops learning. He is more interested in making a horseman rather than a "circuit" rider. While many of Shane's clients do compete successfully on the rated circuit, he does not see that as the goal that everyone needs to meet. Love of horses and horse care is the first priority to Shane as a trainer. He feels it is just as important to be able to be an everyday horseman who can do things like wrap legs, take a horse's temperature and load a horse onto a trailer properly. Ribbons and horse showing are simply a positive byproduct from an individual goal setting stand point.

Shane is an avid horseman who has a background in show horses, fox hunting, horse racing, and pleasure horses. Shane is also an expert in loading green or trouble horses onto a horse trailer. (Please refer to the trailer loading section of the web site for more information.)

Shane resides in Bucks County, Pennsylvania with his beautiful wife Carice, son Kevin and their Australian cattle dog, Kelly.
